This pattern is quite a treat, inspired by both the “Sunday Brunch” fabric collection by BasicGrey and the traditional sweet breakfast bun! Fabrics are organized into a colorwash, creating a soft shift from red to yellow-orange to blue, using cream Half-Square Triangles to transition the colors. The blocks are simple to stitch together, using four elongated hexagons to form a cross, and four half-square triangles to finish the square. There is plenty of room in the negative space to let your quilting shine!

The colorwash really does all the work here—the fabrics shift so gently that my quilt top looks like a watercolor painting. It took me a while to figure out the layout, but the soft transition between shades makes the effort worth it.

Mia ★★★★★

I love how the colorwash naturally guides the eye across the quilt—the fabrics really do create that soft shift from one tone to the next, just like the description promises. Cutting and piecing these curves was surprisingly smooth for a first attempt.

The fabric gradation in this colorwash is so gentle and pretty, it really does shift like a soft breakfast treat. I cut all the pieces for the buns in one sitting because the paper templates are crisp and easy to handle.
