1 Inch Hexagon Scrap Saver: EPP Template Uses

Quick answer

Use the 1 inch hexagon scrap saver acrylic template to trim fabric scraps into 2.5" squares with a dotted hexagon guide, then store them for future EPP basting.

Frequently asked questions

How do I trim scraps with this template?

Place the template over your scrap fabric, aligning the etched hexagon where you want the future piece. Use a rotary cutter to trim around the 2.5" square edge. The dotted hexagon guides placement but is not cut out.

Can I use it for basting directly?

Yes. After trimming, the 2.5" square can be folded over paper pieces and basted. The hexagon outline helps center your fabric, but you'll still need paper pieces for the actual shape. Store trimmed squares in a stack for easy grab-and-baste sessions.

What if my scrap is smaller than 2.5 inches?

The template works best with scraps at least 2.5" on one side. For smaller scraps, consider using them for applique or piecing into larger blocks before trimming.
