Deco Clamshells by Paper Pieces®

The straight-seam construction sounded almost too easy, but after two evenings of piecing diamonds I actually have a finished clamshell block that lies flat. It's a clever way to get that curved look without fighting Y-seams.

I've never tried clamshells before because curved piecing scared me, but these go together with just straight seams. The two diamond shapes really do create the illusion of curves, and my points lined up way better than I expected.

The diamonds go together with straight seams only, which finally made a clamshell pattern feel doable for me. I was worried the curves would look off, but the illusion works and my first block came out cleaner than expected.
